The community of Roan Mountain is located at the base of the 6,285 foot high peak along the Tennessee and North Carolina border. The village, located near the intersection of U.S. Highway 19E and Tennessee State Route 143, is home to churches, businesses, and numerous historic residences. Residents and guests can visit the nearby Roan Mountain State Park, the Cherokee and Pisgah national forests, and various recreation areas. High above Roan Mountain, guests can tour the world-famous Rhododendron Gardens or hike the Appalachian Trail.
